Here are my personal beauty tips for all you busy moms out there! An effective and easy skin care routine that you can squeeze into even the most hectic everyday life.
I am 43. But these beauty hacks work just as well if you’re a young mom in your twenties. Or if you are even older than me. Or if you have no kids at all but just a lack of time to spend on your skin.
When I became a mother, 1.5 years ago, my skin care routine changed dramatically. From having only myself to look after, I now had next to zero time for that. My precious son became the most important thing in my life and everything else came second.
So. Is it possible to maintain glowing and younger looking skin when your life is busy taking care of kids?
Yes! I am here telling you it is! I have learned the tricks along the way. And I have learned what really matter the most when it comes to skin glow and firmness.

Let me present the most concentrated and easy skincare routine possible. With maximum result for a busy mom like myself.
Use baby skincare products
To be honest, skincare products are great, but they are NOT the most crucial thing when it comes to having younger looking skin.
So if you are short on time, make yourself a favor and scale down on your skincare products.
If you have infants or small kids, you’ve problaby done quite some research to find the best skincare products for your little ones. The products better be hypoallergenic and fragrance free (and if not, throw them away). Unless you suffer from severe acne, use the same products yourself.
These products are mild, will work in harmony with your skin, and they are there already.
The only “adult skincare product” I keep using every day is my micellar water from filorga. I use it after I have washed my face with baby soap in the shower in the evening. And as only cleaning step in the morning.
This trick saves me both time and money. And my skin is thriving on it!
A few days a week, if I remember, I also use a bacuchiol pad from indeed lab.
For those of you who have acne, I would recommend trying to add the pad every day. And definitely read my post about acne.
If you are nursing, see my bonus tip about breast milk further down the post. Breast milk is actually one of the most powerful skin- and acne treatments you can find.
And again, there are many great skincare products (as you can read more about in this blog). And I will problaby return to using them when I have more time. But they will not make the big difference when it comes to having younger skin (except for sunscreen which I’ll mention below). Other things matter more.
Skip the foundation -but always always use sunscreen
I have never been good at makeup, so skipping the foundation was easy for me. And it saves a lot of time!
Instead of a foundation, use a tinted sunscreen or just sunscreen alone. Sunscreens will provide glow thanks to their ingredients. And sunscreen is a must in your skincare routine!
If you can only squeeze in one single step in your skincare routine as a busy mom, then let it be sunscreen! Read my two posts about why sunscreen is so important for your skin here and here.
Tip: If you want more cover I recommend a bb cream such as Jane iredale glow time. The formula is recently changed though so I will write an update as soon as I have tried the new one.
If you have melasma or other types of hyperpigmentations, then dot on some concealer on those specific places.
Lastly, if you have a minute left, add some mascara. You’ll look completely natural and radiant, with a minimum of time spent.

Go for powders
Diet plays a huge role in your skincare regimen. Especially over time but also short term. My post about diet for firmer skin explains more in detail.
Now, as a busy mom it can be difficult to have time to prepare and eat all the carotenoid rich foods I recommend on a daily basis. You should still try to eat plenty of fruits and veggies in your family. And be a good role model for your kids. But to give your skin an extra boost I recommend starting the day with a powder mix like I do.
I prepare a glass with two powders. Rosehip powder and amazing grass greens blend. Mixed with water. It goes a lot faster than making a smoothie. And is more concentrated.
You can and should still make smoothies for you and your kids. But again, this is to give you that extra boost for younger looking skin.

Besides making your skin younger on a cellular level, all these carotenoids will give some colour and glow. I noticed a HUGE difference in skin colour after staring with rosehip powder. I used to be very pale in the winter but no more 🙂 .
Do your own microcurrent facials
I love microcurrent and I cannot emphatize enough how much it has helped my skin.
It is a completely natural treatment that helps lift and tighten your face, as well as increase collagen and elastin over time. And you can do it in your own home with the right device.
There are many devices out there and this post covers the ones I have. These days I only use one of them, and that is the ZIIP. It is the most effective device and very easy to use.
I will soon write a whole new post about ZIIP since a new updated device (ZIIP Halo) was just launched. It is said to be even better so I can’t wait to try it out!
In the meantime, if you want to order it, you can use the code ziipwithann for a discount of 10 percent. The code is valid at Ziipbeauty and Currentbody.
I use my ZIIP about two or three times a week (about 10 minutes each time) now. Since it is easy to use with just one hand, I can do it while reading books or playing with my son.
Sleep smarter
I have mentioned the importance of sleep many times in this blog. Because it’s simply crucial when it comes to preventing skin aging and to look your best each day.
I truly recommen you read my post about beauty sleep to learn more.
But what do you do when you have small kids that wake up several times per night? Before I became a mom I dreaded all the sleepless nights that I had heard would come to me. But I am mananging to keep my skin in shape thanks to some sleep routines.
First of all, I never watch series. I go to bed as early as I can to make sure I get as much sleep as possible during the night. My son likes to wake up very often to nurse and snuggle, so I need to have more hours in bed in order to compensate for all the times I wake up.
Secondly, I co-sleep with my son. Which helps both of us to quickly go back to sleep (and is hugely beneficial for small kids).
Thirdly, if I have a lot to do or to worry about, I make sure to write it all down before entering the bed. This trick is hugely powerful.
And lastly, I am accepting that some days I will look more tired. But my son is worth it, again and again. And thanks to my microcurrent I can counteract a lot of the skin damage that poor sleep brings with it.
Bonus tip: for all nursing moms
Breast milk is full of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, growth factors, cytokines, probiotic bacteria, and even stem cells. What more can you wish for in a skin serum?
It is also easy absorable and highly bioactive. And it costs you zero.
Research about breast milk for skin disorders is emerging. And so far it shows very promising results when using breast milk as treatment for atopic eczema, diaper dermatitis, skin diaper rash and umbilical cord separation.
Since breast milk is such a powerful anti-inflammatory agent it is also thought to be very useful for acne and insect bites. I can personally confirm that it works superbly on both!
I have also used breastmilk on bruises and the effect is quite amazing. You must try it if you haven’t already!
So if you are nursing, don’t forget to use your milk on yourself too. I use it as a serum whenever I remember and always before I put on my microcurrent gel. I also use it if a pimple is showing up.
I hope you find these personal tips useful! And I would love to hear if you have hacks of you own to share.
Let’s help each other by sharing what we’ve learned and experienced along our journeys as busy (and blessed) moms! Also, let me know if you have any question or anything else you’d like to share in the comments below.
Until next time, love your skin!
